GATE AMERICAN JUNIOR FINAL RESULTS

(Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) - With 150 people following in the fairway and then circling each green, the World Junior Golf Ranking's number one and number two player battled stroke for stroke for three sudden death playoff holes, ending with a 7-foot birdie putt by Cody Proveaux to win the Gate American Junior Boys title. On the 570 yard par five third hole, Adrian Meronk stuck a wedge to 15 feet right of the back pin. Proveaux put his wedge from 75 yards to 7 feet. Meronk was two revolutions short of draining the birdie, setting the stage for Proveaux to drop his 7th birdie on this, his 21st hole of the day. And drain it he did -- to win the 2011 Gate American Junior.

With a one-under 71 on the final day, Austria's Marina Stuetz held off Denmark's Nicole Broch Larsen, who also shot a one-under 71, to win the Gate American Junior girls title.

Stuetz moved into second in the World Junior Golf Ranking. Proveaux, with his remarkable five shot comeback and playoff win over Poland's Adrian Meronk, helped him close out the year as the number on player in the World Junior Golf Ranking.

Reports

The Gate American Junior (formerly the US Junior Masters) returns this year to the prestigious Ocean Course at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida is recognized as one of the golf capitals on the east coast of the United States.

The Ocean Course -- located on-site at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club -- features a distinct seaside links flavor. Designed in 1928 by famed British architect, Herbert Bertram Strong, the Par 72, 6,574-yard Ocean Course features ninety-nine strategically positioned sand bunkers and a links-like layout. Designed to accommodate defensive pin positions, the elevated greens place a demand on thoughtful and accurate approach shots.

Five times in its history, the Ocean Course has proudly served as the site for the U.S. Open qualifying round. We are excited to host the 2011 Gate American Junior at The Ocean Course.
